Rewards
and Recognisation
Dear
parents, try to go back to your childhood days
and remember how you felt when you got your
first prize, the first time whole class clapped
for you, the principal gave a pat on your back
or the first wrist watch given by your dad as
recognition for something done by you. That
prize or recognition gave you a sense of importance
and you felt so enthusiastic to do the same
job even better next time.
Reward for a job well done encourages a
child the most. At SARAL we too feel it
to be the best way to encourage children to
do extra-ordinary things. Reward makes a child
more enthusiastic towards a challenge. Reward
is certainly a very good way to motivate a child
to do better but we should be careful that wrong
feelings of greed and lack of self-motivation
are not inculcated in them. Bringing up children
is an art. If we master this art we will give
better individuals to the society.
Try to reward children with a minimum amount
of money for small domestic work they do. This
will not only motivate children to help you
but teach them value of money too.
Reward a child with extra playing time when
he finishes his home work on time. A genuine
appreciation and a pat on the back are also
like a reward to a child who only seeks your
attention and appreciation.
